Tucker is a beautiful tri colored boy who was turned into ACES
because his former family said he was growling at the children.
Once Tucker was in foster care, Tom Kaiser evaluated him and said
what Tucker was doing was not growling, he was talking.
ACES had their rescue booth at the Fort Washington Pet Expo, in
Fort Washington, PA in March of 2001 when Leila happened upon our
booth. She was there to put in a application for a Bouvier Des
Flandres and actually did, but she walked by our booth and
noticed Tucker. She stopped and petted him and spoke at length to
ACES volunteers and decided she loved Tucker and wanted to adopt
him. She immediately went back to the Bouvier booth to withdraw
her application. Leila is very happy she withdrew that
application and so is Tucker. Her letter to me is below:
Dear Bonnie,
Just had to write to tell you how happy we are with
"Tucker" and how very grateful we are to you and all
the other people who contributed to his welfare-- to Tom and Sue
for their foster care, and even to the adoptive home who
originally gave him up. He certainly must have had a strong
attachment to have driven him from Tennessee to Virginia, on
Tucker's odyssey here.
Wish there was some way of letting them know how happy we are
with him!! Right now Tucker is in the last leg of becoming a
certified "therapy dog". I have yet to have anyone in
the retirement or nursing homes, we have visited, not love him
immediately and comment on his gentleness and good behavior. I
know it is belated-- but have been meaning to express my sympathy
to you in your loss of "Percy"-- but I would like very
much to donate the enclosed check in his memory. Hope all is
well, and do keep up the wonderful work you and your associates
are doing for these great dogs.
Thanks again
Leila Sobel & Tucker
