  • Group rate of $159 per night for double queen rooms for guests with or without dogs.
  • Group rate of $174 per night for king rooms for guests with or without dogs. (Limited number available must call to reserve)
  • Group rates are subject to applicable state and local occupancy taxes in effect at the time of check-out. (Currently 13.5%)
  • Book on or before Friday, September 22, 2023, to receive our special rate.  All bookings after the cut-off are subject to availability and current hotel room rates.
  • Cancellation policy is 48 hours in advance of reservation.
  • Early departure policy is a 24-hour notice, or you will be charged a $50 fee.
  • $50 non-refundable pet fee; one time charge per room.
  • There is a maximum of 4 dogs permitted, per room. If more then 4 dogs are occupying a room, and additional $150 fee will be assessed.
  • Plastic under all crates in guest rooms is recommended but is not required or provided by the Hotel.
  • Dogs may not enter the hotel restaurant or bar.
  • Dogs may not be left unattended in guest rooms, unless they are in a pet carrier or crate.
  • Check in time is 3 pm and check out 11 am.

Greenville-Spartanburg (GSP): Take I-85 N. to I-26 W. Merge onto I-240 E. Take Exit 3A for Patton Ave. At the second light make a right and follow the road until you see the Crowne Plaza sign on your left. Make a left and follow the road to registration.

Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT): Take I-85 S. to US-321 N. to I-40 W. Take I-240 W. to exit 3B and drive to Resort Drive. Follow the road to registration.

Directions From the North: Head south on I26 E. Take the exit onto I240 W I26 E US19 S US23 S toward W. Asheville. Continue on US19 S US23 S US74 ALT W. Turn right onto Regent Park Blvd. Turn left to stay on Regent Park Blvd. Continue onto Expo Dr. Turn left onto Resort Dr. The hotel will be on your right.

Directions From the South: Head northwest on I26 W. Follow signs for I26 W Asheville I240. Take Exit 3A and merge onto US19 S US23 S US74 ALT W. Grooming Reservations

  • Reserved grooming spaces will be approximately 8’ x 8’. Electricity will be provided.
  • An Asheville Crown Plaza Resort confirmation number is required to reserve a grooming space at the $85 rate. All grooming reservations are limited to 2 spaces with or without confirmation number.
  • Asheville Crown Plaza Resort confirmation number requests have first priority for spaces until August 1, 2023.
  • All grooming spaces in the Expo Center and the Blue Ridge Room (located outside the Expo Center in the hotel) are SOLD OUT.
  • If you have a grooming space in the Expo Center that you are willing to share please contact Judi Hunter at judihunteres@yahoo.com.
  • Free Grooming is available on the lawn just outside the Expo Center with no electric or tenting provided. Just bring your pop ups and generator if you are planning on grooming outside. Please let us know so we can save grass space.
  • Price including electric will be:

  • There will be NO DOGS ALLOWED IN GROOMING AREAS OVERNIGHT. The Resort has strict rules pertaining to barking dogs. BARKING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

Versatility Showcase

Versatility Showcase

To recognize and honor those who have earned Versatile English Setter (VES) titles by successfully competing in at least three different venues with their English Setters. The handlers and their dogs will enter the ring with the dogs on leash, their names and a short biography will be read. They will be presented with a rosette inscribed with the dog’s name and titles earned. Only dogs and handlers present at the National will participate in the Showcase. 

To be eligible to enter the 2023 ESAA National Versatility Showcase on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, the first Versatility title must be earned and awarded by July 31, 2023.

There is no better way to reach a national English Setter audience than to advertise in the National Specialty Catalog. These Catalogs are kept for reference FOREVER!

ADVERTISING IN THE NATIONAL CATALOG IS AS EASY AS 1-2-3:

  1. Create your ad and save it as jpeg or high-resolution PDF (ESAA will not be providing ad set-up this year. Below are names of people that can assist with your ad design. Contact them for information and fees).

Monday, October 23rd:  Obedience Rally & CGC/CGCA/Trick Dog Testing

  • ESAA Junior committee will cover the cost of any Junior Handling Team registering for the Canine Good Citizen test.  The Junior handlers can apply for reimbursement after they have completed the test by emailing Kristen Apodaca at juniors@esaa.com
  • Come join in the opening ceremony and see some true gun dogs in the Gun dog sweepstakes

Wednesday, October 25th:  Learn about our breed!

  • Get involved!!!!  

There are many opportunities for Juniors to learn about our breed and the Juniors Committee encourages you to meet other English Setter fanciers and learn about topics including health and genetics, judging, and what it takes to put on an event like the national.  Here are some volunteer opportunities and please email these women in advance or seek them out when you arrive!

Thursday, October 26th:  Handling Seminar & Pizza

  • Eileen Hackett has agreed to coach our junior exhibitors this year during our annual handling workshop. Bring your dog and come ready to learn. This will be in the competition ring immediately following Pee Wees.  A pizza party and ice cream social for Juniors, Pee Wees, and their parents will follow.  Please let Kristen Apodaca know by October 20, 2023 if you plan to attend the handling seminar, pizza party and ice cream social at juniors@esaa.com

Friday, October 27th:  Junior Showmanship & Banquet

  • ESAA will cover the cost of any juniors attending the banquet, please indicate that you have a junior attending when purchasing banquet tickets.

Want to participate but don’t have a dog? Don’t worry! We will help you find one so you can learn about this wonderful breed. Contact Kristen Apodaca for more information.

Health Clinic

Health Clinic

The 2023 Health Clinic will be on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 8:00am-2:00pm at the host hotel. As in the past ESAA will be contributing funds towards screening to keep costs low for members. This year we will be offering AKC/DNA screening, and AKC Reunite ISO microchips. We will also offer Thyroid Panels submitted to Michigan State University, OFA, CHIC, and DNA Repository. Appointments and payment must be made in advance of the clinic.

REGISTRATION CLOSES: October 11, 2023. – Additions after the close of registration is on a space available basis and clinic time will not be extended. PLEASE PLAN TO ARRIVE 10 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENTAll tests are deeply discounted to members through funds allocated by ESAA.
